The Archives started about 1999, located on the third floor of the Old Union University building on 224 Lexington Avenue. We are proud today that we have opened at our new location at 1981 Hollywood Drive, Suite 300 in March of this year.

At our location, we have some of the oldest Madison County records. Our largest holdings consist of Circuit Court records. We work closely with the Tennessee State Library and Archives and County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS).

Responsibilities
This department develops and manages the county archives program. They also advise the County Mayor and Public Records Commission on the performance of the archives program.

County Archives Standards
County archives standards must be outlined by rules set forth by the Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA). Archives must be kept current and accessible for the public's use.
